Archibald Reid Yachtbrokers

NICHOLA (Niki) LONG KIRKWOOD

Niki has worked in the yacht brokerage field for many years, the last 25 years having been spent running her own company Arch’d H Reid & Co Ltd which was established in 1904.

For many years she has specialised in selling classic yachts, even in the days before they became popular. She has seen yachts that she sold many years ago selling now for twice as much as they were sold for in the past. She negotiated the sole world agency for a large shipyard in Bremen who were building luxury motor yachts in excess of 55m to the highest standards ofworkmanship and design.

She opened a charter office in London to compliment the yacht sales division which managed yachts for charter both sail and power.

Her passions are sailing and horses. She has sailed many thousands of miles including three Atlantic Crossings, the Caribbean, Alaska, Greenland, Bahamas, around the UK, Ireland, and the western European coast, and through the Mediterranean. She raced in the Solent for many years and has enjoyed racing in Antigua – both Sailing Week and Classic Regatta, and in the Mediterranean Classic Circuit – Monaco, Cannes and St Tropez. She raced in Ireland with the Royal Cork Yacht Club, Kinsale Yacht Club and the Glandore Harbour Yacht Club. She is now a member of the Royal Dart Yacht Club and the Dartmouth Mayflower 400 committee set up to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower to the New World.
